ROCKLEDGE, FL - Moving up the planned donation date to combat the dangerous cold weather, Health First's "Caring For Brevard" campaign has made an emergency donation to three local cold weather shelters.
Associates from Health First visited His Place Ministries in Melbourne, Central Brevard Sharing Center in Cocoa and The Salvation Army in Titusville and donated approximately 100 blankets, hundreds of pairs of socks, dozens of hats and other cold weather clothing to those in desperate need of help during the current record-setting cold weather.
The donations are part of the Health First "Caring for Brevard" campaign. This February will mark the official start of Health First's "Caring for Brevard" Community Service Days. For two days, Friday, February 19 and Saturday February 20, 2010, Health First associates, physicians and volunteers will donate their time to a variety of causes across Brevard County.
"Our plan was originally to hand out the donated items next month," said Maureen Tills, Health First Community Health Benefit Coordinator. "But this recent cold weather has so many members of our community in desperate need that the Caring For Brevard campaign realized they needed to be handed out right now."
The cold weather donations were coordinated by The Health First Administrative Professionals (HAPN & CAPE). Collection sites continue to be set up at several Health First locations.
"Caring for Brevard" is a proud member of the Health First family
